she rides her bike through an idle town
the heavy heat of summer hanging in the air
the breeze makes its way through her golden head
and the bag on her back slides from side to side
she sees the boy that lives down the street
her eyes locked on him while everything blurs around her
his legs sway over the platform
built for him when he was seven
a shy smile spreads across his face
hand floating back and forth
greeting her
strawberry cheeks make her face warm
nerves slipping down her legs
pedals moving faster
his face slips out of her view
and the dandelion seeds brush her cheeks
an indie song floats through her earbuds
and the summer looks warmer than it ever had before
the scene plays straight from a film
and her heart lights up
- a poem based on the songs of my Spotify playlist, "Her Heart's a Movie"
Stay peachy,
